WARM CLOTHING FOR THE HOMELESS, WITH THE BROWN BAG LADY

On December 24, 2021, Reaching Out California volunteers were excited to partner with the Brown Bag Lady of Los Angeles, preparing and delivering 248 individually packed and sized bags of warm clothing to the Brown Bag Lady for distribution to homeless men and women on Skid Row over the Christmas weekend. On the first Sunday of each month, the Brown Bag Lady and her volunteers distribute warm food, clothing, and other forms of relief to people experiencing homelessness.

Reaching Out California volunteers packed 248 grocery bags with brand new clothing that had generously been donated by Brain Dead LLC. We placed a new t-shirt and either a hoodie, jacket, or heavy shirt or sweater in each bag (as well as new sweatpants when available), each bag carefully marked by the size of the clothing. Then, we added to each bag a pair of brand new pair of socks, a highly requested item by people who live on the streets.

Reaching Out California volunteers packed the 248 bags of clothing into 19 boxes, which were then loaded onto a moving truck and delivered them to the Brown Bag Lady's loft, just east of Downtown Los Angeles. We look forward to joining the Brown Bag Lady and her volunteers in the distribution of the clothing this cold winter season to homeless men and women on Skid Row.
