300 MORE SACK LUNCHES FOR THE HOMELESS ON SKID ROW
On January 12, 2022, the Midnight Mission wrote us and said: "Due to the recent increase in COVID cases, we are short staffed and can't have volunteers onsite. We desperately need your assistance to continue serving three meals a day to the people on #SkidRow who rely upon us. Would you make to-go meals for our homeless neighbors?"
Appreciating the continuing needs of the many homeless men and women who live on Skid Row, especially during the current COVID omicron surge, Reaching Out California volunteers quickly sprung into action. We immediately told our friends at the Midnight Mission that we would gladly make the 300 sack lunches and deliver them on January 22.
On January 21, the night before our scheduled delivery of the 300 sack lunches, Reaching Out California bought all of the groceries and other items we would need to prepare the lunches. Each sack lunch included a sandwich made of sliced turkey breast and a slice of cheese (along with mustard and mayo packets), a granola bar, a tangerine, and a napkin.
Each sack lunch was carefully packed in boxes, then delivered to the Midnight Mission in time for lunch service. Thank you, Midnight Mission, for the amazing work you do and for being such a wonderful partner in our effort to provide relief to men and women experiencing homelessness!
